An update from the writer’s desk.
For those who may or may not have seen the big news from 2023, here is a recap (in no particular order)
I worked on edits for book one early in the year and started writing book 2.
Prepared myself for submitting to potential agents and readying the necessary materials.
Became more active on Twitter and Instagram.
Came across a pitching event for Shadow Spark Publishing during the month of August.
Pitched it to them (Jess) and a few short days later they requested the entire manuscript.
I signed with them In October! Winds of the World will release 11-2-2025.
Alright, that was 2023 in a nutshell. So, 2024?
For some reason it feels like this year will not be quite as busy, even though I have a short story coming out on June 21. The Man Who Came With Winter will be released in an anthology called Cozyish through my publisher. I did keep it under the 15k word count, which was an epic challenge. This is a story that you can read and it will not take away from the world of The Echoing and Eclipse, even though it takes place during a very important time in the world’s history. The book will be available on amazon as an ebook or paperback. I hope you enjoy not only my story, but also the stories from so many others who contributed.
As I write this I am 35% done with draft 1 of Dark of Dreams, book 2 in The Echoing and Eclipse series. I am having a great time writing this book, even though I admit I dreaded writing it. It picks up right where Winds of the World ended and introduces you to some new characters and places, as well as giving more context to the main characters from book 1. Early feedback is positive, which is wonderful. I truly cannot wait for you to read this book.
Later this summer I will be doing line edits for book 1 in preparation for the 6 month editing phase with my publisher. A book the size of Winds of the World takes a long time to go through. Reading 290k words is no simple task, even if you are reading leisurely.
As for the rest of 2024, well, I will continue to work on book 2, plot the stories to come and take a deep breath knowing that in 2025 the series comes to life.
